This Web Page has been raised,
with a lot of assistance from Keith Fitchew, by the Webmaster
based upon data held in the RAF Cranwell Association Database. We
are only too aware that the RAFCAA Database contains errors and
omissions and therefore we earnestly request advice to correct
any mistakes or insert any omissions in the following data.
In April 1943, 35 young hopefuls arrived at
RAF Cranwell as the 6M9 (47th) Entry to train as Wireless Operators
(WOP's). During
their training they gained one from the 5M3 (46th) Entry, 2 ceased
training, while 2 of their number were re-classed to later Entries,
leaving 31 to pass out in July 1946.
After about 1 year into their training the "operator"
training was ceased and they continued training as Wireless Mech's,
however on passing out they had been trained as either Radio Fitter
Air or Radio Fitter Ground.
