In August 1950, 87 young hopefuls, including 18 from Pakistan, arrived at RAF Cranwell as the 3M9 (66th) Entry to train as Ground Radar, Ground Wireless and Air Radio Fitters. As part of the MOD planning towards ceasing Apprentice training at RAF Cranwell, the title of No. 1 Radio School was transferred to RAF Locking in October 1950 and the Apprentice Wing at Cranwell became No. 6 Radio School. On the closure of No 6. Radio School Cranwell in November 1952 the Entry re-located to No. 1 Radio School RAF Locking from where they passed out in July 1953.

During training the Entry gained 14 from Senior Entries, 8 ceased training, while 22 of their number were re-classed to later Entries where they either passed out or ceased training. Thus 70 Passed Out in Jul 1953.
