In January 1952, 147 young hopefuls arrived at
No 6 Radio School RAF Cranwell as the 5M1 (70th) Entry to train as Ground
Radar, Air Radio or Ground Wireless Fitters. During
their training they gained 33 from Senior Entries, 50 ceased
training or were re-mustered, while 12 of their number were re-classed to later Entries,
leaving 118 to pass out at No 1 Radio School RAF Locking in December
1954, having
moved there from Cranwell in November 1952.
The Entry included a number of
ex-Boy Entrants with seven figure Service Numbers
(1925---) who were remustered as
Apprentices and allocated six figure Service
Numbers (587---). The Entry also included members of the Royal Pakistan Air Force, Royal Burmese Air
Force, Royal Ceylonese Air Force and Royal
Rhodesian Air Force.
